Wilson's School

Badminton Report

This first term has been an exciting and highly successful one for badminton at the school. Our players have shown commitment, teamwork and impressive skill across all age groups, making it a memorable start to the season.

A particular highlight has been the outstanding performances from our U14 and U16 A teams, who have both progressed to the Last 16 of the School Sport Magazine National Cup. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work the squads have put in since September. They now look ahead to their next fixtures in January, where they will compete for a place in the quarterfinals.

Our U14 and U16 B teams also deserve recognition. Their only defeats this term came in closely fought matches—against our own A teams. Their determination and competitiveness show the depth of talent developing within the programme.

Meanwhile, our U12 squad has enjoyed an excellent introduction to competitive school badminton. All students in the squad have had a chance to represent the school in a fixture. In their first matches representing the school, they recorded strong performances against Tiffin, Whitgift, Epsom College and RGS Guildford, gaining valuable experience and demonstrating great promise for the future.

Training sessions have once again been very well attended, with students across all year groups showing real enthusiasm for the sport. We are incredibly grateful for the positive attitude and commitment of everyone involved; it is wonderful to see so many pupils enjoying badminton each week.

We look forward to building on this successful start when play resumes in the New Year. Well done to all our players - keep up the excellent work!
