Wilson's School

Cricket Update #8

Team Reports

Wilson's U15As lost the toss and were asked to field against Wallington Grammar. Wilson’s made an explosive start with the ball. The bowlers hit their stride early, backed up by sharp fielding and some superb catches, reducing Wallington to a precarious 30-6. A gritty middle-order fightback, gave Wallington some hope as they clawed their way to 109 all out. Parth was the standout bowler for Wilson’s, finishing with excellent figures of 2 for 7 in his 4-over spell.

In response, Wilson’s innings mirrored Wallington’s shaky start, with early wickets putting pressure on the top order. However, a calm and composed partnership between Sam (21* not out) and Avyukth (46) steadied the ship. Their efforts guided Wilson’s to a well-earned five-wicket win, showcasing resilience and maturity under pressure.

A strong team performance with contributions in all departments ensured Wilson’s emerged victorious.

Wilson's U13B won the toss and opted to bowl first and started brightly, reducing Sutton to 24-4 early on. Despite some erratic fielding — with several misfields and missed stops — the bowlers maintained pressure, regularly picking up wickets. Sutton’s scoring was aided by lapses in the field, but they were eventually bowled out in the 19th over for 119.

In reply, Wilson’s batting innings began in disastrous fashion. Early wickets fell in quick succession, leaving the side teetering at 25-5 within the first four overs. However, a crucial partnership between Anvith (26 off 26) and Aeshan (31* off 35) brought much-needed stability. Anvith played positively before being bowled, paving the way for Aditya, who came in lower down the order at No. 8. His aggressive 19* off 12 balls included some classy strokes and ultimately sealed the victory in the 17th over.

Wilson’s 1st XI won the toss and elected to field first against Tiffin in what turned out to be a thrilling all-day encounter.

A disciplined opening spell from the seamers brought an early breakthrough and set the tone for the innings. The momentum truly shifted, however, with the introduction of leg-spinner Viabhav, whose tight, attacking bowling dried up the runs and rattled the middle order. By lunch, Tiffin were under pressure at 114 for 4.

After the interval, Wilson’s bowlers maintained their stranglehold. Persistent pressure and intelligent bowling paid off as they dismissed Tiffin for 163 in 47 overs. The standout performance came from Viabhav, whose mesmerising 17-over spell returned outstanding figures of 6 for 43, leaving the Tiffin batters struggling to read his spin.

In reply, Wilson’s began with an explosive start. Ansh blasted 43 from just 23 balls, while Diyath contributed a rapid 28 off 17, putting Wilson’s firmly in control. However, a flurry of wickets after the tea interval threatened to derail the chase.

Amidst the collapse, Raayan held his nerve with a composed and intelligent innings of 44, anchoring the chase and guiding Wilson’s home with the help of the lower order.

A great all-round team effort, highlighted by Viabhav’s magical bowling and Raayan’s cool-headed finish, secured a memorable win for Wilson’s.

Wilson’s U14A won the toss and chose to bat first against Sevenoaks School. On a challenging wicket, the boys made a positive start, with Luca playing a fluent innings of 38 off 23 balls, setting the tone for the innings. Despite a few stumbles through the middle overs, the team managed to post a competitive 129-9 from 20 overs.

In response, Sevenoaks struggled to build any momentum against some excellent Wilson’s bowling. Vidur led the way with the new ball, taking 2-9, before the spinners took control. Rochik (2-11) and Olly (2-5) kept the pressure on, and the opposition were eventually bowled out for 63 in the 18th over.

A mention must go to the captain Luca, who showed a great maturity in his field placing and bowling changes.

Wilson’s U14B were put into bat after losing the toss against Woodcote. Some composed batting performances, helped along by a number of extras from the opposition, saw us post a competitive 169-6 from our 20 overs. Top scorers were Sid (22 off 22) and Dhruv (25 off 23), both showing good intent at the crease.

Defending the total, our bowling and fielding were unfortunately below par. Inconsistent line and length, along with reactive rather than proactive fielding, kept Woodcote in the chase longer than they should have been. A key moment came when their top scorer (46) needlessly ran himself out – had he stayed in, the result might have been very different. In the end, Woodcote managed 152-4, giving Wilson’s a 17-run win.

Standout bowling performance came from Neilay, who finished with 2 wickets for just 16 runs from his 4 overs – the only bowler to really hit his areas consistently.

Plenty of positives with the bat, but lots to improve in the field and with the ball.

Wilson’s U15A lost the toss and were put into the field against Skinners’ School. The opposition’s opening pair came out aggressively, capitalising on the large boundary and some loose early bowling to race to 60 runs within the first five overs.

However, once the openers were dismissed, Wilson’s regained some control. The bowlers tightened up their lines, and the fielders applied pressure to restrict Skinners to a competitive but chaseable total of 155 from their 20 overs.

In response, Wilson’s batting line-up faltered. The Skinners bowlers maintained disciplined lines and lengths, and Wilson’s batters struggled to build momentum. Poor shot selection plagued the innings, leading to regular wickets and ultimately the team being bowled out for just 63 in 15 overs.

Wilson's U15B won the toss and decided to have a bat first.

Avyukth, opened and only lasted two deliveries, when he was caught out without scoring.

Zayaan Patel and Adhiraj Tomar took the score to 30/2 before Adhiraj and Sanjay Rajesh really built the innings to 131/3.

Adhiraj, top scored with 54 not out, Sanjay with a good 25 and Harshil adding a useful 19 runs.

Total - 158/3 off 20 overs. I felt that the run rate could of been higher had we pushed it and been less hesitant between the stumps with another 30 runs at least up for grabs.

Skinners opening pair gave them a solid start and needed breaking up which we finally did in the 13th over (83/1).

Skinners were always slightly behind the required run rate and definitely needed a strong over or two to stand a chance of winning. So, to the last over and Skinners needed 19 runs to win from 6 balls which seemed unlikely but a nightmare combination of no balls, byes, free hits a 6 and a four brought the scores level with 1 delivery left. The game was won by a bye which was so disappointing.

Wilson's U14A lost the toss and Skinners posted 128/7 from their 20 overs. It was a gettable target, but Wilson’s let themselves down in the field, with multiple missed chances, lapses in concentration, and an overall lack of intensity. The bowling effort lacked consistency, and the fielding performance fell short of the team’s usual standards.

In response, Wilson’s batting never quite got going. Despite moments of promise, the innings was plagued by poor shot selection, avoidable run-outs, and a general air of complacency. The team was bowled out for 115 in 18.5 overs.

It was a frustrating result, made worse by the fact that Skinner's were beatable. A game to learn from—focus, discipline, and teamwork will need to improve going forward if the team is to bounce back stronger.

Wilson’s U14B lost the toss and were asked to bat, Wilson’s made an impressive start. Aariv anchored the innings brilliantly with an unbeaten 78*, while Arnav played a superb supporting role, contributing 53. The pair’s partnership set a strong foundation, and with spirits high, Wilson’s posted an imposing total of 173.

Defending the total, the bowlers stuck to their lines well, though they were punished when they missed their marks. Skinners responded with aggressive intent, hitting plenty of boundaries to stay in the hunt. Despite the pressure, Wilson’s kept their composure, and three crucial run-outs helped swing the momentum back.

Although the final margin was just 9 runs, Wilson’s had control for much of the game and looked the likely winners throughout. A great team performance and a strong result that reflects both batting resilience and fielding awareness under pressure.

Wilson's U13A won the toss and put Sutton Grammar into bat. Consistent bowling and some excellent catches in the field saw us bowl Sutton out for 53 after 16 overs. Wickets were shared around Sid 2 and 1 each for Kiaan, Nimay, Zak, Aadit, Darsh, Rafa and Owais. Special mention for Darsh who took a great catch at mid wicket to get their best player out.

Into bat and we didn’t need to rush so batted steadily. Shon and Darsh doing most of the work with Kiaan coming in and scooping the winning 4 after 11.5 overs. Shon was 26 off 43. Wilson’s win by 11 wickets.

Wilson's U12A lost the toss and were asked to field, Wilson’s bowlers put in a disciplined performance. Wickets were shared across the team, with Advik impressing as the most economical bowler and Shrihaan delivering a standout two-wicket maiden. Sutton Grammar were bowled out for 70 from their 20 overs.

In reply, openers Arjun and Ridhaan began cautiously, with just 9 runs on the board after five overs. However, they soon found their rhythm, combining solid stroke play with smart running between the wickets. Arjun retired on 30 (off 39 balls), while Ridhaan made a composed 24 (off 34).

The only wicket to fall was Guhan’s, before Sarvesh and Will guided the team home in the 16th over. (PHOTO ATTACHED)

Wilson U12B won the toss and elected to bat, Wilson’s posted a competitive total of 141, thanks to solid contributions throughout the innings. Tritish led the way with a composed 36* (retired), helping set a strong platform for the team.

In response, Sutton Grammar struggled to keep up with the required rate under sustained pressure from the Wilson’s bowlers. Krish was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3 wickets, as Sutton were bowled out for 79.
