Inspiration in English

In English this term, Year 8 students have been writing and delivering speeches on figures of political, historical and social significance that they find inspiring.
From 8C, Advaith spoke about the Indian writer Subramania Bharati; Aarnay about the Guadeloupe-born composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges; Ryan about the British politician behind the founding of the NHS, Nye Bevan; Kaan about the Ottoman admiral Hayreddin Barbarossa; and Buki about Dr Timothy Ndubisi Menakaya, who founded a hospital in Nigeria, where he was also a health minister - and who is Buki's grandfather!
We look forward to hearing more inspiring speeches from our Year 8 students and encourage all students to give some thought to the figures that inspire them.
