Success at the SATRO problem-solving competition

Earlier this month, three teams of participants from Years 9, 11 and 12 travelled to St Philomena’s School to take part in the SATRO problem solving competition heats.

SATRO is a Surrey based charity organisation setup to encourage more students to follow careers in engineering. As part of this commitment, they run a problem-solving competition for Surrey schools where the students have to construct something out of limited resources to meet a design brief.

Mr Carew-Robinson commented:

"Our students had already proved their problem-solving mettle by winning the trials held in school, emerging victorious despite the high calibre of their competition.

On the night, the competition was fierce and the engineering designs innovative."

All three teams produced excellent designs, but it was the Year 9 and 11 teams who managed to score sufficient points to qualify for the grand final on 23 April in Chertsey – special congratulations to them!
