A winning streak for Wilson's athletes
It has been a fantastic few weeks for the Wilson’s Athletics Teams. Earlier this month the Junior Boys Team, comprising of students from Years 7 and 8, travelled down to Kent to compete in the English Schools’ Regional Final. Some fantastic performances, in particular from Logan (Year 7), who equalled the school record in the 1500m and Woody (Year 8) with a dominant run in the 300m, saw Wilson’s place above local rivals John Fisher, Wallington Boys and only one place behind Whitgift. An excellent effort all round.
Moving onto Borough Sports on 26 June, the weather was hot and the boys were on fire! Our students performed exceptionally well across each year group, achieving:
- 1st Place – Year 7 (8 medals)
- 1st Place – Year 8 (9 medals)
- 1st Place – Year 9 (9 medals)
- 3rd Place – Year 10 (7 medals)
These outstanding performances meant that we finished 1st overall, winning the competition by an impressive 26 points with John Fisher in 2nd and Wallington Boys in 3rd. This is a tremendous achievement and reflects the hard work, commitment, and determination of all the students involved.
A special mention to two students, Max (Year 9) and James (Year 10), who are also Surrey Schools’ Champions, winning gold medals in the Triple Jump and 100m Hurdles. A big congratulations to them both.
We look forward to Sports Day and the exciting times that lay ahead for Wilson’s athletics.
