Wilson's School

Wilson’s students reading together

As part of our Wilson’s Reading Together strategy, pupils across the school have been enjoying a new short story each week to read along with a recording, with staff joining in too. This term's first story, Where There Is Water There Is Life by Joanna Davidson is part of a collection of short stories called War Stories, curated by former Children's Laureate, Michael Morpurgo.

2026 is the National Year of Reading, a UK-wide campaign encouraging people of all ages to rediscover the enjoyment of reading. The campaign highlights the importance of making reading part of everyday life, rather than seeing it simply as a school task.

By creating a regular opportunity for everyone to read together, Wilson’s Reading Together aims to give students the chance to discover new stories, enjoy reading for its own sake and share that experience as a school community.

We look forward to discovering where the next story takes us!
